The Future of Process Technology – Process Technology of the Future”. In lijn met dit thema spreekt Michael Braungart over ‘Cradle to Cradle as the future of Process Technology’.

Summary Hoogewerff Lecture 2010
The lecture addresses the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) material management philosophy, different ‘cradlized’ products and their implications for changing industrial production. It will focus on new technologies, which means chemical processes, the materials used, and what creating a positive ecological footprint is all about. Other topics that will be part of the presentation will be how waste equals food (the first C2C principle), how to use current solar income (the second C2C principle) for energy needs, and how to support diversity (the third C2C principle). This will be a presentation where participants are encouraged and will be able to freely ask questions about what Cradle to Cradle is, how it functions and its applicability to various industries and facets of life.

Curriculum Vitae Prof. Dr. Michael Braungart

For two decades, Michael Braungart has pioneered a system of product innovation known as Cradle to Cradle. He co-authored the book by the same name. After completing his studies in Process Engineering in Darmstadt, Germany, Michael Braungart went on to explore the chemical processes of industrial production techniques with the Chemistry Department at Konstanz, Germany. He subsequently spearheaded the formation of the Chemistry Section of Greenpeace International. By the time he completed his PhD in Chemistry at the University of Hannover in 1985, he had assumed leadership of Greenpeace Chemistry. In 1987, Michael Braungart founded the Environmental Protection Encouragement Agency (EPEA) in Hamburg. He also serves as Scientific Manager of the Hamburg Environmental Institute. Recently he was appointed at the special endowed chair on “Cradle to cradle in relation to sustainable system innovations and transitions in theory and practice”.
